The Journey

CheckYourMD.com was created for many reasons.  The giant gap between patients interchanging ideas and experiences was a big driving force.  What many people don't know is that personal health related issues also inspired me to create the site.  So I would like to share my struggle with everyone. Here goes....

My Journey began when I was only 22 years old.  I was young, energetic and athletic.
One day after coming back from the gym I became very ill with flu like symptoms.  After a few trips to the doctor I was given dozens of Antibiotics.  Doctors couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting better.  Days,weeks even months past by. I was still suffering from fevers, swollen glands and extreme fatigue. My life came to a screeching halt.  I was forced to stop working and going to school.  I was bedridden for weeks at a time.  I was in and out of the hospital for various reasons.  I suffered with this for 3 years !  I had seen over 25 doctors in that time span....I got no answers from all the doctors that I had seen.  I felt helpless, scared and lost.  I was just repeatedly told that I had an Auto Immune dysfunction and there was not much they could do.  That was unacceptable to me and my family.

Lucky for me I found a Doctor who didn't give up on me. Spent time with me !  Listened to me ! He has helped me get a little better over the years.   I had spent thousands of dollars floating around from doctor to doctor.  I was misdiagnosed several times.  I was given drugs that my body didn't need.  It was an emotional roller coaster for me and my family to say the least.  This Journey inspired me to create a site where patients can share reviews and opinions with each other.  My life would have been much easier if I could have had access to a site like CheckYourMD.com.  If I would have known that others with the same problem as me had a doctor who actually cared,  I would have gone straight to him and avoided one of the most terrible experiences of my life.  I really hope that CheckYourMD can make a difference in peoples health related Journey so to speak.  I don't want any human being to go through what I went through.  If only ONE person can avoid such a terrible experience because of CheckYourMD, I will consider the site a huge success.

To anyone going through a similar situation, please NEVER give up.  Keep looking for answers.  Many other people are going through it too.
